Since 1988, Ken Harding has been teaching effective methods of self-protection and self-development to responsible, goodhearted people. The foundation of his combat system is Japanese Budo, and his emphasis is on realism and adaptability.

At the root of his methods is the understanding that you must do everything possible to protect yourself and your loved ones from harm. You must be skilled at striking and kicking, as well as grappling (throwing, joint locking, choking, groundfighting, etc.). It is also necessary to be highly skilled with edged and blunt weapons (knives, clubs and longer sticks). We place a strong emphasis on free sparring. Everything that we do is built upon a carefully-designed and unified system of movement and method. This is one system, not several different systems. Our studies also include tactics of combat and warrior philosophy.

Our fighting system is not a recently-fabricated hybrid. It is not a sport-oriented style geared toward competitions. It is not an ineffective, pretend martial art chasing after spiritual enlightenment, or a dusty museum piece that is only for demonstrations. Our martial arts are not for children. It is a serious, battle-tested warrior tradition passed down from teacher to student for many centuries. We use a structured system of learning and applying a scientific mindset to empart the most skill in the least amount of time.

We reject the mysticism and supernaturalism that is sometimes taught in the martial arts. If you are looking for that, look elsewhere. We have a foundation of Rationalism.

Membership is open to all people of good character, regardless of race, gender, beliefs or nationality. By "good character" we mean people who respect our community's laws and who intend to use martial arts for the purpose of protection. Those who violate our codes of conduct are expelled.

We espouse certain principles, based on a love for this country and its freedoms, with the purpose to preserve and perfect this democracy. We are dedicated to promoting martial skills and rational thinking in order to advance the health, happiness and progress of mankind. We urge our members to exercise the right of independent thought and action through the ballot and to follow the dictates of their conscience in religious matters.
